Greg Proops is a funny, funny guy

Last night the wife and I saw Greg Proops live at the Funny Farm in Alpharetta, GA.

The show was not too bad at all, and we were pleasantly surprised to find that he wasn’t as sugar coated and generic as he would appear based on his tv/movie appearances.

Probably the best bit was his ongoing feud with an audience member who had started heckling the previous comedian over a joke about Christians driving prowess. The guy kept yelling out any time there was a religious reference, and Proops just continued to beat the crap out of the guy everytime he interrupted.

He also had a nice bit about what happens to men when they reach a certain age…they immediately become infatuated with three things:
*German cars (from the most anti-Semetic parts of Germany)
*Red wine (But I’m a connoisseur…I *need* a case at a time!)
*Cigars (Smoking a good cigar is like eating and shitting at the same time)

Holly continued to point and laugh at me as he continued listing things that I had recently become enamored with…the worst part is that earlier that day she had given me my birthday present early: a cherry wood humidor with 125 cigars.
:(

Oh,and I would be remiss if I didn’t mention thatProops totally checked Holly out. We were sitting at the left side of the stage, and as he walked toward our side, he punctuated a punchline with a shrug, while looking toward Holly. She shrugged back, laughing, and he gave her a grin and a quick lookover. She did not, however, get an autograph, so HA!

  1. [...] Ok, so he wasn’t as ‘on’ as Greg Proops was when we saw him recently, but for someone who grew up with SNL and has pretty much enjoyed Lovitz in anything I’ve seen him in, I was pretty pleased. His delivery, to me, is great. I love the unsure, self deprecating stuff. :) [...]
