People are stupid, part 5001

In an article over on MSNBCs ‘Red Tape Chronicles’, there is a rather lengthy, detailed and quite clear explanation of how some states and government agencies post online information about misplaced funds that may be owed to citizens.

The article – on a news site, mind you – complete with details and links and you know, content is followed by user comments. At the time I’m writing this there are almost 200 of them, and of those easily 75% of them are posts by people putting their names and family information into the post, asking if they have money owed to them.

Granted, the headline of the story is the provocative ‘Does someone owe you money? Find out here.’, but seriously folks: do you really think that there is someone sitting at the MSNBC website waiting for people to ask and then answering them?

Part of me hopes this is some elaborate joke played by some merry band of ‘net smart-asses, but another, more cynical part of me knows it isn’t. People are just really this stupid.

Unfortunately, you are right. People really are this stupid, these are the same people who are all about the government providing health care. . .'cause it's free! and of course the first to scream when something they want gets cut from the budget. Free bread and circuses! Yeah, hmmm, not so much.
