Let the Palin bashing begin

One of my contentions has been that a McCain loss would be blamed on Palin - not by McCain himself (he handled the loss with aplomb and 2000 style class last night) but by his advisers. I’ll document these as they occur.

They plucked this woman from obscurity, frothed her up in front of the world and are now going to relegate her to being a B-list celebrity and comedic reference.

She’s supremely unqualified and sophisticated, but she doesn’t deserve what is about to happen to her.

In a new 50,000 word article on the presidential campaigns that will come out tomorrow, Newsweek reports that Gov.

McCain on SNL

He was funny…this is the old McCain - likable, at ease, willing to laugh at himself. There will be plenty of discussion in the months and years ahead about how he sold out all he ever was or wanted to be, just to appease what’s left of the Republican party. The need for him to betray himself to appease the religious zealots who now run the party is a sad tale, indeed.

Here are both of his videos from last night.

A good comment from a HuffPo poster:

Let’s admit it: He’s a funny, likable guy.

That is not…logical, Captain.

I couldn’t agree more!

Alfred E. Smith dinner

For anyone who hasn’t seen it yet…here are Barack and McCain ‘roasting’ each other and having a little laugh at the Alfred E. Smith dinner last night.

Obamas best lines (imho):

“My greatest strength would be my humility. My greatest weakness is that it’s possible I am too awesome.”
Many of you know that I got my name from my father. “Barack” is Swahili for “That one.” I got my middle name from somebody who obviously didn’t realize I would run for president.”

McCain was pretty good too, his best line was:
“I can’t shake the feeling that some people here are voting for me.

Joe the Plumber

Here’s the video that set it all off:

Now it’s being reported that Joe Wurzelbacher is not registered to vote in Ohio, owes back taxes and wait for it: is related to Charles Keating. Yes, THAT Charles Keating.
So it turns out that Joe is a shill and a plant that the McCain camp almost got away with.
Like I said earlier to some folks: you can’t make this shit up.

This is not a joke, part four

This is not a joke

But yet I am laughing so hard that my insides are hurting and I think I just ruined my fancy office chair.

ABC News’ Kate Snow and Imtiyaz Delawala report: Hank Williams Jr. sure knows how to get a crowd going.

On a small stage in the middle of a sea of red t-shirts at the Richmond International Raceway in Virginia this afternoon, Williams stood a few feet from Republican vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin to sing the Star Spangled Banner. But it was his next song that was a surefire hit in this conservative crowd.

“The left wing liberal media … most American people don’t believe ‘em anyway you see,” Williams intoned.

The tune seemed to be entitled “The McCain-Palin tradition” and was sung to the tune of Williams’ song “Family tradition,” a song with lyrics about drinking and smoking marijuana.

God fight!

Whose God is better?

A pastor at a McCain rally knows:

“I would also pray, Lord, that your reputation is involved in all that happens between now and November, because there are millions of people around this world praying to their god — whether it’s Hindu, Buddha, Allah — that his opponent wins, for a variety of reasons,” Conrad said.
“And Lord, I pray that you would guard your own reputation, because they’re going to think that their god is bigger than you, if that happens. So I pray that you will step forward and honor your own name with all that happens between now and Election Day,” he said.

He’s got the bloodline

Part of disagreeing is knowing your opponents views. I think it is fair to say that I know as much about John McCain, Sarah Palin and the Conservative platform as I do about Barack Obama and his platform.

Knowledge of the issues and how they relate to your personal views is what this is all about - not a party, not a man, not an ideology. Ignorance is bliss, and as seen below, depressing.
