McCain says Obama polls are up because life isn’t fair.

(CNN) – John McCain said Thursday that Barack Obama’s poll numbers are rising as the economy seems to sink “because life isn’t fair.”

“He certainly did nothing for the first few days,” McCain told Fox News Thursday. “I suspended my campaign, took our ads down, came back to Washington, met with the House folks and got on the phone, and also had face-to-face meetings.”

New CNN/Time/Opinion Research Corporation polls of several key battleground states released Wednesday found Obama has made gains across the board – either taking statistically significant leads, or erasing McCain advantages – over the past few weeks.

Bristol Palins wedding - October Surprise?

Inside John McCain’s campaign the expectation is growing that there will be a popularity boosting pre-election wedding in Alaska between Bristol Palin, 17, and Levi Johnston, 18, her schoolmate and father of her baby. “It would be fantastic,” said a McCain insider. “You would have every TV camera there. The entire country would be watching. It would shut down the race for a week.”

I sure hope this happens! Maybe this will bring back the money lost from my 401k in the last 4 weeks.

Watching a McCain surrogate this morning, he was all over Biden for his ‘Roosevelt on tv’ remark - ‘Biden doesn’t even know that tvs were not yet invented, lol’ was the gist of it.

Here’s a tidbit from factcheck regarding a statement from McCain the other night:

McCain mangled his military history:

McCain: President Eisenhower, on the night before the Normandy invasion, went into his room, and he wrote out two letters.

In detail here, but here are the high points.

McCain and Obama contradicted each other repeatedly during their first debate, and each volunteered some factual misstatements as well. Here’s how we sort them out:

• Obama said McCain adviser Henry Kissinger backs talks with Iran “without preconditions,” but McCain disputed that. In fact, Kissinger did recently call for “high level” talks with Iran starting at the secretary of state level and said, “I do not believe that we can make conditions.” After the debate the McCain campaign issued a statement quoting Kissinger as saying he didn’t favor presidential talks with Iran.

• Obama denied voting for a bill that called for increased taxes on “people” making as little as $42,000 a year, as McCain accused him of doing.

In every instance he claimed McCain was right, he then went on to either contrast himself with McCain or to show that McCain’s approach to solving the issue is wrong:

“Well, I think Senator McCain’s absolutely right that we need more responsibility, but we need it not just when there’s a crisis. ”

That ancient history that no one talks about…

Getting a little tired of hearing politicians speech patterns being criticized as a deficiency.

Deliberate pauses when speaking are normal - filling them with silence leaves the listener with an impression of ignorance. Filling them with leading sounds such as ‘uh’ or ‘um’ are leading sounds, indicating there is more to come after the pause. The pause is usually brain action that is parsing a statement to make it more meaningful or pertinent.

What’s more psychologically telling to me is those people who can rattle off a string of paragraphs, one after another, without missing a beat.
