Blogit v .01 proposal
At 2:45am, tired and not sure if I took my ambien yet, I hereby propose a new internet protocol to be called ‘BlogIt’. BlogIt will be used to send page content, complete with meta tags, images and media to a users predefined blog.
A page with an article and a picture that is tagged could then be extrapolated and syndicated to another site, complete with citation and appropriate licensing restrictions*.
An example would be visiting youtube and clicking a ‘BlogIt’ link that would automatically embed the video in the post, name the post topic, cite the source and url and add the youtube tags as tags on the blog.
New York Times is awesome
One of my favorite Mac authors, David Pogue, writes for the NYT. Reading an article of his this morning, I noticed that they have an awesome little feature I am going to steal for my sites.
To find reference information about the words used in this article, double-click on any word, phrase or name. A new window will open with a dictionary definition or encyclopedia entry.
Yes, that’s right. Double-click a word on the web page and it pops up a window with a definition or links. Very awesome. Yes, it’s just some fancy javascript, but still, that kind of proactive thinking is brilliant…making it easier for the user to understand the article they are reading is just plain cool.
CNN - We cater to all sorts of fetishes!
From this article…
Thanks GOD! Now I don’t have to go looking for my internal decapitation news, I an have it delivered directly to my inbox!
You think *you* hate spam?
I’ve owned my domain McDev.com for almost 10 years now. Over those years, I’ve used numerous email addresses for it, including some created just for specific places (web site logins, storefronts, people to send to me).
For the past couple of years though, I have used Googles ‘hosted apps for your domain‘ feature, which allows me to access my mcdev email via a gmail interface.
Any email that goes to mcdev (minus a few personal accounts) goes to a ‘catch-all’ address, meaning one big fat mailbox.
Today I noticed that my Spam box was a little large. This is what happens when spammers get their scumbag on, aww yeah.

Teacher exposes kids to porn via spyware - to be jailed
Until recently, Julie Amero says, she lived the quiet life of a small-town substitute teacher, with little knowledge of computers and even less about porn.
Now she is in the middle of a criminal case that hinges on the intricacies of both, and it could put her behind bars for up to 40 years.
She was convicted last month of exposing seventh-grade students to pornography on her classroom computer.
She contended the images were inadvertently thrust onto the screen by pornographers’ unseen spyware and adware programs.
Prosecutors dispute that. But her argument has made her a cause celebre among some technology experts, who say what happened to her could happen to anyone.
No joke. This happens EVERYDAY to millions of people. It’s unfortunate that she didn’t have the training to know what was happening, or the common sense to turn the monitor off, or even the wherewithal to turn off the system despite her ‘orders’.
Rest of the article after the jump…
Germans love me…?
This isn’t the first time this has happened, but yesterday and today, BabyGotMac has taken a lot of traffic. But, like the last time I had a huge surge in visitors, they once again appear to be predominantly German.
Must be something in the way I write that appeals to their senses…
:)
